Junior Industrial Designer  

We are a team of Industrial Design Engineers that help companies take their ideas from design, through manufacture and into production. Although we do work for well established businesses, most of our work is for investor backed businesses with a route to market for their innovative idea. Our job is to ensure that we come up with the best product solution that delights their end customer and is aligned with their business needs. We then do the heavy lifting of development through manufacture and into production.   

We wish to expand our team and are looking for junior designers who have had at least a year in industry, ideally consultancy, but could be in a fast-moving product development company.

We will be looking for an individual who is confident in their portfolio and has a range of projects which demonstrates their process & thinking. Strong communication & sketching product design skills are essential. We would like you to evidence your ability to iterate designs through sketches, prototypes, translate designs into 3D Cad, (solid works ideally) and render to communicate why these designs are right for the end customer.  

We would be looking for you to have a good understanding in manufacturing materials and processes to help discern one solution from another.  

If you are after an agency role with designer offices and free soy lattes in the foyer, don’t apply for this role. Our studios are full of working prototypes, rigs and sketches. Most of the time you will want to work from the studio because you will want to be part of the team, but we know that some days you may be more productive working remotely, which we can support.  

We will be understanding of your experience, and you will be nurtured by the team so as you grow to become a super confident, talented designer and team member that will manage their own projects and clients.   

The package is negotiable. We are a certified B Corporation and as such we will go to great lengths to ensure that you are happy working as part of our team, so you can then concentrate on being the best designer you can be.   

Essential Skills we will look for: 

Concept generation (quickly and presentable). Looking for innovative solutions that are clearly communicated. 

Experience in Model making 

Need to be proficient in 3D cad. Ideally solid works 

Engineering and design for manufacturing consideration in your design solutions. 

Working with prototyping companies 

Presenting concepts and engineering solutions to the team and if asked, our clients. 

Project management experience. 

Essential software: 

Adobe CC 

Solidworks 

Rendering software 

Microsoft office 

Additional (nice to have) skills: 

Video editing 

Fusion 

Render Animation 

Arduino 

Photography 

Marketing Communication & Social media Management

Location 

Our base is <1 hour south of Central London, a 10 minute walk from Haslemere (GU27) railway station. We are also able to accommodate candidates wishing to work from Stokes Croft Bristol where we have workspaces.
