We’re pleased to announce that we’re working with Claims.co.uk to bring the first annual Engineering for Access award for students

The award has been set up to help the brightest engineers in the UK, which tasks undergraduate students to come up with a design that could change the lives of people living with disabilities.

One winner will walk away with an industry standard prototype of their design by Bang Creations – Plus a cash prize.

Developing products to help people with disabilities and impairments is something we love to be involved with. We will be awarding points based on products that solve real needs in an elegant and user friendly way. It always helps us to judge to see the whole process. Evidence of concept generation, detailing, 3D CAD, Engineering, initial Prototyping, Design for manufacture will all aid in us selecting the best candidates. Additional points will be awarded to concepts that show particular consideration to inclusive design principles.

Entrants must respond to a brief, which includes their product design, it’s intended user and their inspiration for their creation. They may also include drawings or CAD renderings of their design if they wish. A panel of judges from Bang Creations and Claims.co.uk will select a shortlist of 10 students, and ultimately one winner.

Engineering for Access is open to undergraduate students currently studying at a UK based university in an Engineering discipline. Entries must be submitted by 3rd December 2018.
