MePos
Ecosystem of intelligent point of sale hardware

The brief

Our longstanding client – Unique secure- for whom we had designed and produced a number of products before, are a very fast-moving business. They identified early on that payment systems at retail needed more versatile payment hardware. We were briefed to come up with a solution that allows a retail customer pay for their goods using a pin device, while allowing the retailer to take that payment either on the move, over a counter, or at a self-serve kiosk. The customers may also wish to take a receipt, while the retailer may wish a specific need for their shop and not require a printer.

The bang

One of our client’s end customers was Worldpay, and together they had specific requests, one of them was keeping the footprint as small as possible. However, the printer was a set size and we also had connectors to the pin device and the tablet. The industrial design exercise provided a solution for a diamond layout, with the two stands being interchangeable. The pin device could also be unplugged and plugged on the back of the tablet stand. Power and coms can be delivered through the base of the unit or through the individual stands.

The result

An electronics partner in the UK worked on delivering the firmware, and our team in Asia delivered the hardware. Our client worked directly with both teams to bring the final solution to market. The MePos is one of the leading mobile payment systems in the market providing a versatile, secure point of sale for payment service providers.
