The brief
To conduct an industrial design renovation of a fully working prototype, to increase the stability for safety, build on user interaction to develop the user experience and improve aesthetics to improve the marketability.
The bang
Many designs were drawn up and the favourite concepts were brainstormed collaboratively with the clients. We roleplayed through the potential user interactions and played with different forms finally landing on a perfectly balanced appliance. On top of the brief we also proposed a hanger feeding arm mechanism to maximise yield, this was taken forward and implemented into the working prototype.
The result
A domestic dream which has captured the imagination of over 40,000,000 online viewers on facebook alone. with 300k shares. It has been featured in the Daily Mail online and print edition, the Evening standard online and print edition, the Huffington post, Ideal Home magazine, the Metro, House Beautiful, Yanko Design, Design Boom and many other design publications. It has been discussed on BBC Radio 2 by Chris Evans, LBC Radio, and Sunrise Radio. Hundreds of thousands of people have signed up to be told when the device will be available to pre-order.
